On October 7th and 8th, over 400 riders will take part in this unique race and try to beat the fox.
The course starts high on the summit of Slieve Martin, above the regular trails of Rostrevor Trail Centre. We’ll get you there with a help of uplift but there will be a bit of a push to attain the altitude necessary. Don’t worry, you’ll be back at sea level quick enough though. Riders race in a wide line across open moorland aiming for the magic holeshoot that leads to singletrack trails where overtaking is almost impossible.
Across the shoulder of Slieve Martin the trail then takes a dive straight down a rutted steep newly built trail that snakes its way over to the established downhill trails of DH1 and DH2 from the trail centre. Mixing these two trails up, experienced riders will have noted the shortcuts and sneaky lines in practice in their bid to outfox the fox. The trail includes Hecklers rock, a crucial feature of National Championship downhill courses and not for the faint hearted, before emerging from the trees into the finish arena where the tunes will be pumping to help with the arm and leg pump.
